Nickname Ilens. Studied at the Stieglitz Art academy, Peterpils. Studied architecture in Latvian University, graduated Latvian Art Academy. In addition to painting, he alsohas drew cartoons for magazines,, Scales',,, Recreation ',,, Latest News', etc. Illustrated children's books. Independent exhibition in 1920, but in 1922 established his studio. In 1930 participated in an exhibition in Brussels. From 1932 was drawing teacher of Riga craft school, was also a teacher of history and style of Riga Technical College.
