Andy Warhol (1928-1987)
Andy Warhol was born as Andriy Warhol on August 6, 1928 in the United States of America to a Ruthenian family who had emigrated from eastern Slovakia. He was the third, youngest child in the family. From 1945 to 1949, he studied applied graphics and design at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. After his studies, he settled in New York. In the early 1950s, he changed his name to Andy Warhol.
After a successful career as an illustrator for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, Warhol became a well-known and controversial artist. Worked in very different art techniques. He has also made films and written books. Was the first manager of the rock band The Velvet Underground. Coined the saying "15 minutes of fame"
