Stanislavs Kreics (1909-1992)
Stanislavs Kreics is remarkable landscapes' and Marinas' painter. Worked in a style of Latvian tonal painting. One of the most popular artists of his time. He worked in the oil medium. Painted native Latgale lakes, landscape, Baltic Sea. Artist left a very wide range of artistic heritage.
In his works Stanislavs Kreics tried to discover his love to homeland and its beauty. The way he paints the sea concerns, calm, encouraging imagination and creates the need to be near it. In his paintings we can see artist's richness of feelings and temperament.
Stanislavs Kreics born on July 1, 1909 in Daugavpils.
Childhood years spent in Karsavas' neighborhood. After finishing primary school in Ilukste worked as a photographer. During this time he got the first serious interest in the arts. 1938 Stanislavs Kreics joined the Latvian Academy of Art. Professional skills acquired by A.Annuss, V. Tone, K. Ubâns, but the greatest impact to the artist's personality and his works was studies in landscapes' painting workshop by prof. Wilhelm Purvitis. On 1947 Stanislavs Kreics graduate Latvian Academy of Art with a painting "Return" by Ìederts Elias.
Stanislavs Kreics took part in organizing Art Days in Latvia.
Member of Artists' Union since 1950. Took a part in exhibitions since 1945 in (Liepaja). Overall life held more than 20 solo exhibitions.
On 1980th became the Honoured artist.
