Janis Lauva (1906-1986)
Borned in Skrunda. Painted mostly peasant life and work, as well as photorealistic landscapes. Excellent horse painter, ometimes also painted historical compositions.
Studied at the Latvian Academy of Arts (1927-1934), finished figurative painting, which head was Gederts Elias.
He worked as a teacher in Skrunda (from 1938), in Kuldigas School of Art (1945-1952), Liepaja Secondary School of Applied Arts (1952-1968).
Member of the Artists Union since 1959.
Participated in the exhibitions since 1936.
Personal exibitions in Liepaja (1956, 1967, together with K.Lejnieks and M.Zavickis, 1976, 1977, 1982), Riga (1966), Skrundā (1976, 1982), Aizpute (Nice, 1980), Kuldīgā (1982). Memorial Exhibition held in Liepaja (1987).
