Valters Uzticis (1914-1991)
Painter, teacher.
V.Uzticis worked in watercolor and oil techniques, painted landscapes, still-lifes, portraits and genre paintings.
He was born on July 19, 1914 in Daugavpils.
Studied in Liepaja in Art craft school (1932-1936). In V.Uzticis 1943 graduated Latvian Academy of Art, L.Liberts masterclases of Figurative Painting (degree work - "Swimmers").
V.Uzticis worked as the set dresser in Liepaja City Theatre of Drama and Opera (1933-1936), as the decorator in Labour Museum in Riga (1937-1938). He was director at Museum of Local History and Art in Talsi (1945-1950), worked as the teacher in Kuldiga Middle School of Craftsmanship (1950-1952), Liepaja Middle School of Applied Art (1952 - 1989; was the head of Department of Decorative design). Was chairman of branch of the Union of Artists in Liepaja (1960-1964). He worked as stage designer in Liepaja Theatre (1962-1967). Was the non-staff artist of the Latvian State Publishing House (1940-1941, 1946-1959).
V.Uzticis was a member of Cooperative of Fine Arts (1944). Member of the Artists Union since 1959th.
In exhibitions participated since 1943rd.
Personal exhibitions are organized in Liepaja (1965, 1979), Jelgava, Saldus, Tukums (1965), Jurmala, Kuldiga (1974).
V.Uzticis died on December 8, 1991 in Liepaja.
