Adolfs Melnars attended studio of K. Miesnieks (1928), studied in Latvian Art Academy (1930-1939) and graduated Figurative painting studio.
He worked as a drawing teacher in the secondary school in Riga (since 1940) and in Riga school of Applied arts (1945-1957).
Artist took part in exhibitions since 1933.
Self-exhibition was in Riga (1959).
A. Melnars was a member of Artists Union (since 1945, in 1953 expelled, in 1956 admitted back).
