Harijs Veldre (1927-1999)
As true landscape painter H.Veldre found the unique charm in each change of the seasons. In spring works the landscape gets depth, the summer involves with beauty of the nature, in autumn his palette becomes more decorative.
H.Veldre was born on March 8, 1927 in Riga.
He studied in the Riga school of decorative arts, where drawing teacher was E.Bine (1942-1943), visited studio of L.Svemp's (1942 - 1944). In 1949 H.Veldre graduated the Masterclass of Figurative painting at the Latvian Academy of arts.
The artist worked at the Riga art school named after J.Rozentals (1951 - 1956, 1964 - 1965).
H.Veldre was member of the Artists’ Union of Latvia since 1949. In exhibitions participated since 1947.
Solo exhibitions are organized in Riga (1967, 1968, 1977, 1992, 1995), Liepaja and Ventspils (1972), Valmiera and Saldus (1982), Jurmala (1988), Lapmezciems (1997).
H.Veldre died on May 6, 1999 in Riga.
