Coaster "Woman with a companion". USSR, 1961. Coaster "Woman with a companion". USSR, 1961. Material: cupronickel. Manufacturer: Mstersky jeweler factory. Technology: stamping. Height (with handle): 9 cm, diameter: 6.5 cm. On the front side of the case there is a relief image of a young woman against the backdrop of the Kremlin, stretching her hands to the starry sky, in which the satellite is visible. The sides of the rarity are decorated with ornaments in the form of oak leaves and ears of corn. The release of the glass holder is dedicated to the successes of the USSR in the field of space (the launch of the second Soviet artificial Earth satellite).n the theme of space in the 60s of the last century, for quite objective reasons, was incredibly popular. Therefore, the “Woman with a Satellite” glass holder at that time was cast by three different manufacturers at once: the Kolchugino Cutlery Plant (now KolchugTsvetMet CJSC), the Kiev Jewelry Plant and the Mstersky Jeweler factory, a series of glass holders under the general name “Soviet Cosmos”. This series included coasters “First Sputnik”, “Conquerors of Space”, “Soviet Space” (the most common), “To Saturn”, “Yuri Gagarin”, “First Manned Flight” and, of course, “Woman with a Satellite”. However, this is far from the only name that this cup holder was called at different times. So, at antique auctions, this lot is often called "Space Diva", and "To the Stars", and "Woman Cosmonaut", and even "Tereshkova".
